How to Choose a Seasoning and Food Ingredients Supplier

A checklist for restaurants and food factories choosing a seasoning, flavor or food ingredients supplier: consistency, R&D, documentation and supply.

1. Consistency and specifications

Ask whether every product is made to a fixed formulation and specification, and request the specification sheet. Consistency from batch to batch matters more than an excellent first sample.

2. R&D and application support

A good supplier can adjust a product, match a reference sample and advise on dosage and application in your process, not just sell from a catalog.

3. Food safety and documentation

Ask which food-safety standards and certifications the supplier works to, and what documents come with each delivery. Make sure the answers match your own customers' requirements.

4. Samples, volumes and exclusivity

Check how quickly samples are delivered, whether the supplier can follow your volumes as you grow, and whether a custom formula will stay exclusive to your brand.

Request prices and samples.
